The forecast for tomorrow (according to the Met Office) is light rain showers accompanied by 23 mph winds.
The forecast for today, I should add, was light rain showers and strong gusts.
Now, I can't speak for the rest of the Fylde & Wyre, but apparently light rain showers and moderately strong winds in Fleetwood means getting drenched to the skin (if not beyond), having to apply the dehumidifier to the chicken you bought for tea before it becomes 'supreme' without the necessity of baking it, and having to hang the new bathroom curtains you bought at the market in front of the fire for several hours to dry out because you mistakenly thought that light rain showers and gusts wasn't referring to something more akin to the biblical flood.
And if you thought that it was wild, wet and windy pushing your trolley through ASDA's/Morrison's/Tesco's car park today, just wait until you get on top of that hill.
Or rather don't, because, all matters considered (such as the fragile nature of the archaeology and the fact that I don't want to scare the residents of Fleetwood into thinking they're under attack by U.F.O.'s when my hat takes off in a northerly direction tomorrow), it's probably best if we cancel Sunday's excavation and hope for better conditions next week.
Besides, I've got the rest of the bathroom to paint.
Fingers crossed for less volatile weather next weekend.

Brian
