Brian, that's helpful, I did shrink 'em, but obviously not small enough

Apparently, Larkholme had an aerodrome back in Biggles' days.

Okay, I knew about Blackpool hosting the first air show and what have you, but I didn't know that Fleetwood had its own aerodrome. Fascinating stuff. It just goes to show, you really do learn something new everyday.

It's really good that we are all interesting in things different, but it all adds up...keep watchin' the "ground"!

I'm not sure if anyone knows of this resource, but it is substantial and useful:- http://www.amounderness.co.uk/index.html

2 books mentioned, The Story of the Great Ice-Age in the Ribble Valley and the Fylde by Shackleford (1908) [illustrations include "submerged forest, Rossall Beach] and Evolution of a Coastline: Barrow to Aberystwyth and the Isle of Man by William Aston, botH will be of interest re Rossall Beach. Also, there are some Pathe News extracts showing the 1927 Fleetwood flood and an Air Display at Blackpool in 1910.

Lastly, there's a downloadable copy of Baines' History of Lancashire (2 volumes) (1836) for FREE!!!

I see they've also got four different book titles by a couple of rather excellent local authors there that I recognise...ahem...and, of course, can highly recommend.

It looks like Robert has renamed his Lytham Online website.

I alway thought that the 1836 edition of Baines was in 4 volumes. Having just downloaded the 2 volumes available, only the "Salford Hundred" is included after the general history. In other words, Amounderness is not there, which is disappointing.
