Draft Minutes of Wyre Archaeology Group Meeting 18 July 2012
Present: P Asher, P Ashman, D Berry, C Clayton, B Culshaw-Phillips, D Hammond, D Hampson, T Lightbown, H Ricco, J Schofield, Ed Shone. F Smith, G Thornton.
Guests: P Emery, K Emery, B Rigby, C Ricco, D Whalley, S Whalley.
1. Chairman welcome: Vice –chair Dave Hammond welcomed everyone to the meeting, with a special welcome for new member Pauline.

2. Apologies for absence: received from, Pat Emery, G Thornton, Dominic Whalley, Seb Whalley.

3. Minutes of last meeting: Minutes of 20 June were approved as correct.

4. Matters arising: a) Big Dig – DWH reported that it had not been possible to arrange a planning meeting so far but one would be arranged shortly; b) Nateby – no further action; c) Highgate Lane – Chris reported that he had tried to contact the owner of the land across from our previous site on Highgate but so far without success; d) Pilling & Nateby – Dave B was trying to make contact with Pilling Historical Society which had been reconstituted this year; e) Dave H had not been able to investigate the Rawcliffe Hall suggestion but would try again; f) Danes Pad – Dave B had investigated field beyond the reservoir but under crop at present so not a potential site for some time. Ted recalled that Blackpool Historical Society may have excavated in the Weeton Moss area; g) Poster – DWH was asked to email poster to members (after amending email address!); h) DWH was asked to check out with contacts the use and cost of ‘geophys’ survey equipment .

5. Treasurer’s Report: Gary reported that the account now stood at £761.21.

6. Executive Committee: None

7. Correspondence: Jane Williams of Wyre & Fylde Together had contacted both Chris and DWH to ask permission to use photos taken from the ‘Antiquarian’ blogspot. Chris had received permission from Brian Hughes whose copyright it would be and this had been passed on to Jane.

8. Excavation Update: Deferred


9. AOB: Hilary and Barbara announced a further car boot sale is planned end Aug/Sept so they would welcome items. DWH was asked to make contact with Peter Iles to ask for information in relation to possible building development on Fleetwood Road.

10. Date of next meeting: Wednesday 15 August at 7.00pm in Dance Studio.
