DRAFT MINUTES


Minutes of Wyre Archaeology Group Meeting 17 October 2012

Present: P Ashman, D Berry, C Clayton, K Emery, Pat Emery, Dave Hammond D Hampson, B Rigby, Ed Shone, G Thornton.
Guests: L Barlow, J Cass, J Fairclough, J Ghent, A Smith.

1. Chairman welcome: Dave Hammond welcomed everyone and especially guests to the meeting.

2. Apologies for absence: received from B Culshaw-Phillips, H Ricco, Frank Smith, Carlo Ricco, T Lightbown, Dominic Whalley, Seb Whalley.

3. Minutes of last meeting: Minutes of 19 September were approved as correct.

4. Matters arising: a) Big Dig – After discussion, it was agreed that the dig would take place on Sunday 21 and Monday 22 October. At the next meeting the excavation would be reviewed to date and plans for possible future digs discussed.

5. Treasurer’s Report: Gary reported that the account balance stood at £821.21.

6. Executive Committee: None

7. Correspondence: None (but see below)

8. Excavation Update: For the benefit of new members and guests, Chris and others gave a brief ‘history’ of the work of WAG on the Bourne Hill site and other excavations.


9. AOB: a) Dave H reported that he had received an message via the Forum offering alternative accommodation for meetings. I was agreed that we should continue to use facilities at Wyre field Farm and that DH should write to James Parr to firm up arrangements for continued use of the portakabin and to ask permission to have a key cut. b) After discussion a show of hands was in favour of the now traditional Christmas Hotpot rather than a ‘carvery’ suggested previously. Dave H to contact James Parr to agree arrangements for 19 December.

10. Date of next meeting: Wednesday 21 November at 7.00pm in Portakabin.
