TIME TEAM - IT’S NOT!
But it is the chance for you to get hands on experience of practical archaeology.
Wyre Archaeology (WAG) wants you to join in our summer
BIG DIG. 21st to 24th June 2013
We’ll give you temporary free membership, basic training in excavation skills and health & safety on site. You’ll be covered by our insurance; we’ll even lend you a trowel but you will have to bring your own butties!
If you can’t dig we’ll find another job for you such as finds cleaning, recording, drawing. You’d be welcome whatever skill you might be able to bring. WAG is open to people of all ages and we have previously provided practical experience for students going on to study for degrees in Archaeology.

In past seasons we’ve excavated a Roman Road in Stalmine, an 18th Century cottage, a Roman site in Kirkham and a possible Iron Age settlement in Thornton.

Wyre Archaeology is affiliated to the Council for British Archaeology and has strong links with local professionals in the field. We meet in Thornton on the 3rd Wednesday of each month to keep everyone informed of activities and there are occasional guest speakers and visits. You can come to 3 meetings free of charge and if you like it you can join WAG for £10 p.a.
For details of the BIG DIG, e-mail the Secretary on: [email protected] or visit our website: www.wyrearchaeology.org.uk
