 Post subject: Estimating a Mound

Location: Garstang
A little advice please, ladies and gents. These 3 views are from the canal just south of Garstang, looking towards Dimples Lane. The mound in the centre is some 100m long. How does one estimate whether features like this mound are natural ground variations, the remains of earthworks in comparatively recent times (maybe canal work) or very old man made mounds?
