Excellent 2 days dig on Bourne. DAY 1 opened 3 trenches exposing shallow channel in compacted (haematite) surface. Some small metal finds but out of context (in spoil). DAY 2 opened 2 further trenches revealing channel continued and widened into shallow bowl-like depression and two possible stake holes or conical bottom of larger posts. We thought it may be a water contained for livestock but could be old animal burrow and nest. However we did find a small probable sherd of pot lying on the hard surface. Also area of possible burning where haematite very dark almost black and fused.

Maybe another dig on SUNDAY 28th. Watch out for announcement.
