(Early Saturday morning): And the weather for tomorrow is...'tricky' apparently. At least, that's what the various weather forecasters on the telly keep saying. For some reason they don't seem able to make up their minds. (Presumably somebody's stolen their last stand of seaweed and the local squirrels have eaten their pine cone.)

According to the Met Office, we've got more or less the same situation as last week...which, as it turned out was good enough for long enough to excavate another square metre. (Yes...I know...a square metre isn't much, but it's good archaeology and every bit's worth the effort).

So, keep you eyes trained on this board. I'll give Chris a ring in a bit and, hopefully, confirm the situation one way or another before tomorrow morning.

UPDATE:

It's Saturday night and the weather forecast still hasn't made up its mind, which basically means (according to the nature of the universe) that if we continue with the excavation it's going to bucket down all day, and if we don't, the sun'll come out and it'll be splendid weather-wise.

In the interests of all those bank-holiday sunshine seekers, therefore, I've decided to cancel tomorrow's dig and paint the skirting boards in my bathroom instead.

Brian

Woke up this morning to bright blue skies, a complete absence of gales and glorious sunshine. According to the latest forecast it'll probably start raining about three or four o'clock this afternoon. So I thought, this is too good an opportunity to miss (especially considering how much of this roundhouse there is to dig).

I haven't managed to procure myself a lift, so I'm packing a rucksack with the bare minimum of essentials (blackboard, trowel, butties, etc) and catching the bus. Hopefully I should be at the site before ten. If it rains in the meantime, of course, I'll be catching the bus straight back again.

Might see some of you there?

Brian
