Minutes of Wyre Archaeology Group Meeting 19 June 2013
Present: P Ashman, C Clayton, B Culshaw-Phillips, K Emery,D Hammond, D Hampson, T Lightbown, C Ricco, H Ricco, E Shone, F Smith, G Thornton, S Tingle.
Guests: D Jackson, R Hewitt, R Teunisse, David Seeley-Jones.
1. Chairman welcome: Chairman Dave welcomed everyone and especially guests to the meeting and asked members to introduce themselves.
2. Apologies for absence: received from, D Berry, P Emery, A Munro. M Shaw, S Tingle.
3. Minutes of last meeting: Minutes of 15 May were approved as correct.

4. Matters arising: None

5. Treasurer’s Report: Gary reported that the account stood at £393.07 after the last meeting. With income from another successful Car Boot Sale of £72.30 and one new subscription, the balance now stood at £765.37. Barbara and Hilary were thanked (yet again) for their fundraising.

6. Executive Committee: None
7. Correspondence: a) CBA: Information had been received by the secretary regarding the CBA Festival of Archaeology. Unfortunately we were not in a position to register our BIG DIG as part of these activities. b) Secretary informed the meeting of Brian R’s decision to resign from the group. This would also affect membership of Seb and Dom W

8. Excavation Update: a) Chris informed the meeting that in the course of a conversation, George P had mentioned a potential site near Stannah where there appeared to be an agger in a field lining up with the road to Wardleys (Underbank Road). b) Arrangements are now in place for the BIG DIG starting on Friday.

9. AOB: a) Ed informed the meeting that he had been invited by a friend to give a talk about Wyre Archaeology to a group at Poulton Library and this had been followed by a further invitation to speak at Fleetwood and Knot End Libraries. b) Ted mentioned the continuing discussion on the Forum about supposed but spurious tunnels linking various sites in the area.

10. Date of next meeting: Wednesday 19 June at 7.00pm in Portakabin
