Can anyone help me please, or at least point me in the direction of someone who can? whilst doing my family tree I discovered that the Wardleys was run by some of my family according to the 1881 census, a Thomas Houghton married my relative Agnes Thompson and he's down as running the Wardleys and a farm of 101 acres.
I visited hambleton this last weekend only to discover the hotels burnt down and the Wyre farm next door ( now a cattery) couldn't have been the farm he ran as according to the owner whom i spoke to, the wyre farm was only ever a smallholding. I'm really at a loss on how to find out if Wardleys was in my relatives hands when it was used for prostitution & smuggling all those years ago ( knowing my luck it'd be them lol) any ideas please?
By the way, Im a new member
