While driving from Blackpool towards Great Eccleston, and as we passed Windy Harbour traffic lights, my wife asked me why it was so called. Being a man, I couldn`t say I didn`t know so I suggested it was the site of an old inn for travellers along there in coaching days. I believe they were termed harbours - it seemed too far from the Wyre to be a sea harbour but I`m having second thoughts about that. But then she asked why it would be windy which suggested that it might have been by the sea. Can anyone help? :(

the original old road ran down through Windy harbour, If you go down Poolfoot lane and follow it to the end that's the old road c/w milestones and resting lay bys, ran all the way to Lancaster.
